Figma Sync
Variables can be edited on both sides — in Figma and in variable Jar. A single Sync button aligns changes from both at once.
Sync
When you press the Sync button in the plugin:
- Your current Figma variables are compared with the master.
- Changed only in Figma → applied to the master.
- Changed only in variable Jar (grid edits, approved translations, …) → applied to Figma immediately.
- Changed on both sides (a conflict) → left for you to resolve in the web app.
Sync moves variable metadata — scopes and descriptions — along with values.
When the sync finishes, a toast at the bottom of Figma summarizes the result:
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| No changes | Both sides were already identical |
| Sync complete, with a count | That many changes were processed without conflicts |
| Conflicts found, with a count | That many conflicts are waiting in the web app |
The top of the plugin shows the connected project’s name and when it was last synced.

Resolving conflicts
A conflict happens when the same variable is edited in both Figma and variable Jar before a sync. To resolve it, you pick either the Figma value or the variable Jar value for each variable, in variable Jar.
A banner with the conflict count appears above the master grid, which then shows only the conflicting rows (switch with the All / Conflict filter).
- A conflict cell shows the Figma value and the variable Jar value on two lines, labeled FIG and JAR. Click the value you want to keep and a check mark appears on that line — the Figma value is selected to start with. You can choose per mode.

- Press Apply:
- Variables where you kept the Figma value → the master takes the Figma value.
- Variables where you kept the variable Jar value → the next sync applies that value to Figma.
File linking
To sync, first link the Figma file to a project.

- Creating a link — open the plugin in an unlinked file and the Connect this file screen appears. Choose Create new project (all variables in the file upload automatically) or Link to existing project.
- Someone else’s file — if the file is already linked to another person’s project, choose Request as translator (free) / Ask to be invited as team member / Start with my own project. Owners and team members approve requests on the Members page (see Team & roles).

- There is no unlink — the plugin has no disconnect feature; a link is removed only when its project is deleted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin doesn’t affect it.
- Duplicating a file — links are per Figma file, so a duplicate starts as a new, unlinked file. Start again from Connect this file there.
