Terms of Service

Effective date: July 6, 2026

1. Purpose

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern the relationship between the operator of variable Jar (the "Company", "we") and users of the service, including the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of each party.

2. Definitions

  1. "Service" means the Figma Variables multilingual collaboration platform provided by the Company, including the Figma plugin, the web application at variablejar.com, and the API.
  2. "User" means a member who uses the Service under these Terms.
  3. "Workspace" means a team-level working space created by a User.
  4. "Translator" means a free user invited to a Workspace for translation purposes.

3. Effect and Amendment of the Terms

  1. These Terms take effect when posted within the Service or otherwise notified to Users.
  2. The Company may amend these Terms within the bounds of applicable law. Amendments are announced within the Service at least 7 days before they take effect.
  3. Users who do not agree to amended Terms may stop using the Service and close their account.

4. Services Provided

  1. The Company provides the following:
    • Figma Variables synchronization and management
    • Multilingual translation workflow (assignment, review, and application)
    • AI translation (built-in AI translation with glossary support)
    • Team collaboration (workspaces, role management, change history)
    • Data export and import (DTCG, JSON, CSV)
  2. The Service is intended to be available 24/7, but may be temporarily suspended for unavoidable reasons such as system maintenance.

5. Registration and Accounts

  1. Users sign up with Google OAuth or magic-link email authentication. No separate password is used.
  2. Users must provide accurate information and must not register using another person's identity.
  3. Users are responsible for their account credentials and must not allow third parties to use their account.

6. Fees and Payment

  1. The Service offers a free plan (Free) and a paid plan (Pro). The scope and price of each plan are shown on the pricing page.
  2. Paid plans are monthly or annual subscriptions. Payments are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record — Paddle is the seller of record for your purchase, and Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to checkout, invoicing, and taxes.
  3. Cancellations and refunds are handled according to our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
  4. When downgrading from a paid plan to the free plan, no data is deleted; items exceeding the free plan limits become read-only.
  5. Translator seats are unlimited and free on every plan.

7. User Obligations

Users must not:

  1. impersonate others or misuse another person's personal information;
  2. interfere with the stable operation of the Service;
  3. use the Service for unlawful activities;
  4. create multiple accounts to evade AI translation caps;
  5. collect, use, or distribute information from the Service without the Company's consent.

8. Intellectual Property

  1. Copyright and intellectual property rights in the Service belong to the Company.
  2. Rights to content created and stored by Users through the Service (variable data, translation results, and similar) belong to the User.
  3. The Company does not use User content for any purpose other than providing the Service.

9. Restriction of Use

  1. If a User violates Section 7, the Company may restrict use of the Service or suspend the account after prior notice.
  2. In urgent cases (security threats, legal requests, and similar), the Company may act without prior notice and will state the reason afterwards.

10. Disclaimer

  1. The Company is not liable for failure to provide the Service due to force majeure such as natural disasters, war, or suspension of telecommunications services.
  2. The Company is not liable for Service disruptions caused by the User's own fault.
  3. The accuracy of AI translation results is not guaranteed; final review responsibility rests with the User.

11. Damages

To the extent permitted by law, the Company is not liable for damages arising from use of the free service. For paid services, the Company is liable only for damages caused by its intent or gross negligence.

12. Dispute Resolution

  1. The Company and the User will consult in good faith to resolve disputes arising from use of the Service.
  2. If consultation fails, the courts of the Republic of Korea have jurisdiction.

13. Governing Law and Language

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. This English version is the governing text; translations (including Korean) are provided for reference only.
